While it’s not the only metric schools look at, it can be one of the most objective. Students receive two scores when they complete the SSAT: A total scaled score or the raw number of points the student scored A total percentile which compares their score to those of their peers Success on the SSAT sets students up to enter elite private schools and take on substantive academic coursework. What to Expect on the SSAT The SSAT is a standardized test consisting of multiple choice questions and a writing section. The writing section is not scored; admissions officers use it to review a student’s writing skills.
