Schedule a free consultation About the SSAT Just as schools use the SAT or ACT to evaluate potential students at the collegiate level, the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is widely used by private K–12 schools. There are three versions of the test , each created for specific grade levels: When used as part of a comprehensive admissions process, SSAT scores can show the capabilities and potential of a student compared to their peers. The test helps schools place students in the right classes and offer them appropriate support. What a Good SSAT Score Means A good SSAT score opens doors to a bright future. While it’s not the only metric schools look at, it can be one of the most objective. On the SSAT, students aren’t measured by their social skills or personal circumstances but by their knowledge and cognitive skills. Students receive two scores when they complete the SSAT: A total scaled score or the raw number of points the student scored A total percentile which compares their score to those of their peers Success on the SSAT sets students up to enter elite private schools and take on substantive academic coursework. For many, it can be one of the first steps toward later educational milestones, like competitive high school transcripts and university admissions. What to Expect on the SSAT The SSAT is a standardized test consisting of multiple choice questions and a writing section. The writing section is not scored; admissions officers use it to review a student’s writing skills. The multiple-choice questions are broken down into four sections: We keep things simple—a clear roadmap from first call to test‑day victory. Learn & Refine Quantitative featuring math questions based on topics like algebra, geometry, probability, and analysis Reading which provides seven reading passages and corresponding questions to test comprehension Verbal with questions about vocabulary, reasoning, and logic Experimenta an ungraded section designed to test future SSAT questions Students can choose to take the test in various formats, including on paper or online, at home or at a testing center. This allows students to choose the format that best suits their testing style and needs. With time allotted for breaks, the test takes about two hours at the elementary level and three hours at the middle and upper levels.

  • Leadership | InAmerica Education

Explore InAmerica Education’s trusted partnerships with top education leaders. Learn how our collaborations provide the best opportunities for students. InAmerica International Since 2010 Leadership Chairperson of the Board Lilly Yu Lilly Yu is the Founder and Managing Partner of InAmerica Education and serves as Head of Chair at IEG. Since establishing InAmerica in 2013, she has led its evolution into a distinguished international education platform, guided by a long-term, institution-building vision. Lilly’s entrepreneurial path began during her undergraduate years, shaped by a deeply held belief that education should be both personal and transformative. From the outset, she recognized that each student’s journey is unique—and that true educational success lies not in standardized outcomes, but in discovering a path aligned with one’s potential. Her early work with families revealed a broader truth: education is not a transactional process of school placement, but a continuous, strategic journey of growth, direction, and opportunity. This perspective led her to pursue graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. Under her leadership, InAmerica has transitioned from a traditional admissions advisory firm into a highly curated, high-touch platform with a family office-style approach, based in New York. The organization partners closely with families over the long term, offering not only academic planning and admissions strategy, but also access to an exclusive ecosystem of research, internships, and enrichment opportunities. Through this integrated model, students are empowered to cultivate intellectual depth, personal clarity, and a distinctive trajectory. In 2025, InAmerica further expanded its educational footprint through the acquisition of a leading K12 private school in Arizona. By engaging directly in school leadership and long-term academic development, Lilly extended the firm’s role beyond advisory into active participation in educational design and institutional stewardship. For Lilly, education transcends admission to prestigious institutions. It is fundamentally about cultivating character, expanding horizons, and equipping the next generation with the perspective and confidence to navigate an increasingly complex world. Internally, she has built a culture defined by trust, discretion, innovation, and long-term responsibility. Lilly is also a committed advocate for women’s leadership, encouraging more women to step into roles as mentors, founders, and decision-makers, shaping not only organizations, but the future of education and society at large. InAmerica International Since 2010 What is KinderQuest? KinderQuest refers to the competitive admissions process for top-tier private schools in the U.S. serving students from nursery through elementary school. These schools (often called the “Ivy League for little kids”) are recognized for academic rigor, abundant resources, and pathways to elite middle/high schools and universities. Families are applying earlier than ever, with interest shifting from Kindergarten to Pre-K and even 2’s programs. Each stage of entry has distinct characteristics and challenges. Strategic preparation, especially at younger entry points, is essential for success. The table below shows how entry points differ in prep timelines and selectivity. How KinderQuest Differs from College Admissions While college admissions focus on academic performance, extracurriculars, and standardized tests, KinderQuest looks at something very different—the whole child and the family behind them. Top-tier K–12 private schools evaluate: Social-emotional development Verbal communication skills Peer interaction Family-school alignment In other words, it’s not about grades—it’s about fit, readiness, and relationship. Why More Families Are Considering KinderQuest Here's why KinderQuest has become a strategic priority for proactive parents: Our KinderQuest Services Every family is different, and so is every child. Playdate Observations & Developmental Insights Structured peer interactions allow us to assess developmental cues and social behavior. • Interview Prep | InAmerica Education

InAmerica’s K–12 Interview Prep Service equips students with the skills and confidence to shine in school admissions interviews. Through personalized coaching, mock interviews, and constructive feedback, we help students express themselves clearly, highlight their strengths, and make a lasting impression on admissions teams. InAmerica International Since 2010 K–12 Interview Preparation Services Personalized coaching, mock interviews, and parent guidance so your family shines in every conversation. Book a Free Consultation Why Interview Prep Matters For competitive U.S. private schools, the interview is often the tie-breaker once grades and test scores look similar. Admissions teams use it to gauge curiosity, communication style, social-emotional readiness, and family fit. A polished, authentic interview can: Broaden your admissible school list and scholarship leverage Signal character strengths—resilience, empathy, leadership Give parents a voice in the process and demonstrate shared values with the school Because most schools schedule interviews only once per cycle, preparation ensures you seize that single opportunity. What to Expect from the Interview The shape of the interview changes with age—yet the goal is always the same: reveal genuine potential and cultural fit. Early Childhood Elementary & Middle School High School Early Childhood (Pre-K–2) Play-based observations and small-group “screenings” measure social-emotional milestones, language development, and the ability to transition between activities. Elementary & Middle School (Grades 3–8) One-on-one student conversations focus on passions, learning style, and problem-solving; parents may have a separate Q&A about educational philosophy. High School (Grades 9–12) Longer individual interviews—sometimes paired with group discussions or panels—assess intellectual curiosity, leadership, and community impact. Parents often face deeper questions about support structures and alignment with the school’s mission. No matter the grade level, schools look for authentic self-expression, active listening, and alignment between student goals and campus culture. Smart Prep Timeline A proven roadmap moves families from baseline to confident delivery. Diagnostic Mock Interview & Feedback Establish current comfort level and identify growth areas. Foundational Coaching Build storytelling skills, body language awareness, and parent talking points. Strategy Phase Drill common and school-specific questions; refine responses for clarity and impact. Simulation Phase Full‐length mock sessions under timed, realistic conditions; receive detailed rubrics. Interview Day & Debrief Last-minute mindset tips; post-interview reflection and thank-you note guidance. Most families begin 4–8 weeks before their first scheduled interview.
