Schedule a free consultation About the SSAT Just as schools use the SAT or ACT to evaluate potential students at the collegiate level, the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is widely used by private K–12 schools. There are three versions of the test , each created for specific grade levels: When used as part of a comprehensive admissions process, SSAT scores can show the capabilities and potential of a student compared to their peers. The test helps schools place students in the right classes and offer them appropriate support. What a Good SSAT Score Means A good SSAT score opens doors to a bright future. While it’s not the only metric schools look at, it can be one of the most objective. On the SSAT, students aren’t measured by their social skills or personal circumstances but by their knowledge and cognitive skills. Students receive two scores when they complete the SSAT: A total scaled score or the raw number of points the student scored A total percentile which compares their score to those of their peers Success on the SSAT sets students up to enter elite private schools and take on substantive academic coursework. For many, it can be one of the first steps toward later educational milestones, like competitive high school transcripts and university admissions. What to Expect on the SSAT The SSAT is a standardized test consisting of multiple choice questions and a writing section. The writing section is not scored; admissions officers use it to review a student’s writing skills. The multiple-choice questions are broken down into four sections: We keep things simple—a clear roadmap from first call to test‑day victory. Learn & Refine Quantitative featuring math questions based on topics like algebra, geometry, probability, and analysis Reading which provides seven reading passages and corresponding questions to test comprehension Verbal with questions about vocabulary, reasoning, and logic Experimenta an ungraded section designed to test future SSAT questions Students can choose to take the test in various formats, including on paper or online, at home or at a testing center. This allows students to choose the format that best suits their testing style and needs. With time allotted for breaks, the test takes about two hours at the elementary level and three hours at the middle and upper levels.

- KinderQuest | InAmerica Education
InAmerica guides families through elite early school admissions. Stand out with tailored child development coaching, parent interview prep, and more. InAmerica International Since 2010 What is KinderQuest? KinderQuest refers to the competitive admissions process for top-tier private schools in the U.S. serving students from nursery through elementary school. These schools (often called the “Ivy League for little kids”) are recognized for academic rigor, abundant resources, and pathways to elite middle/high schools and universities. Families are applying earlier than ever, with interest shifting from Kindergarten to Pre-K and even 2’s programs. Each stage of entry has distinct characteristics and challenges. Strategic preparation, especially at younger entry points, is essential for success. The table below shows how entry points differ in prep timelines and selectivity. How KinderQuest Differs from College Admissions While college admissions focus on academic performance, extracurriculars, and standardized tests, KinderQuest looks at something very different—the whole child and the family behind them. Top-tier K–12 private schools evaluate: Social-emotional development Verbal communication skills Peer interaction Family-school alignment In other words, it’s not about grades—it’s about fit, readiness, and relationship. Why More Families Are Considering KinderQuest Here's why KinderQuest has become a strategic priority for proactive parents: Our KinderQuest Services Every family is different, and so is every child. That’s why our KinderQuest services are designed to be highly personalized and developmentally appropriate. We guide families through every step of the early admissions process with a focus on the whole child and the family unit. Verbal Development & Communication Skills We work with children through guided play and early language coaching to strengthen age-appropriate communication, expression, and interpersonal engagement. Emotional & Behavioral Readiness Using research-backed techniques, we help children practice social-emotional skills like turn-taking, self-regulation, and adapting to new environments—critical competencies for admissions readiness. Playdate Observations & Developmental Insights Structured peer interactions allow us to assess developmental cues and social behavior. Families receive tailored feedback and strategies to support their child’s continued growth. Parent Interview Preparation Parents are often evaluated as much as the child. We help you express your parenting philosophy, values, and vision in a way that resonates with target schools and aligns with their missions. Family Profile & Community Engagement Strategy We craft a compelling, authentic family narrative that highlights your cultural identity, community involvement, and educational values, building a strong impression across interviews and applications. School Visits & Admissions Liaison From tour scheduling to follow-up correspondence, we assist with logistics and advocate effectively on your behalf throughout the admissions process. When Should I Get Early Childhood Consulting for My Child? From the informal, play-centered 2’s program to the more structured environment of Kindergarten, every phase builds foundational skills that impact how a child is perceived by admissions teams. Each stage of early education carries different expectations for developmental maturity. The table below outlines what schools look for and how you can plan accordingly.
